Benign
Tumours
- Pyogenic granuloma - not classically a tongue lesion.[1]
- Granular cell tumour - classically base of tongue, may be malignant.
Malignant
- Squamous cell carcinoma.
- Human papillomavirus-associated head and neck squamous cell carcinoma - especially the base of the tongue.
- Alveolar soft part sarcoma - base of tongue especially.
- Hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma.
- Cribriform adenocarcinoma of the minor salivary gland.
