Libre Pathology:References

This article deals with references in Libre Pathology (LP).

Libre Pathology uses templates from Wikipedia. It is easiest to generate journal references with a template generator.

PubMed references

Citation template filling

Step:

1. Copy & paste the PMID into the input box.
2. Click Submit.
3. Copy output into the page you are editing.

Referencing textbooks

There are a set of templates for citing textbooks.

An example of how one is used:

{{Ref Robbins8|123}}

Where:

Ref Robbins8 is the name of the template (found at Template:Ref PBoD8)
123 is the page number in that reference

The result is the following:

Kumar, Vinay; Abbas, Abul K.; Fausto, Nelson; Aster, Jon (2009). Robbins and Cotran pathologic basis of disease (8th ed.). Elsevier Saunders. pp. 123. ISBN 978-1416031215.

Redirecting reference templates

One can redirect templates like regular pages.

So:

{{Ref PBoD8|123}}

and...

{{Ref Robbins8|123}}

Both generate the same thing:

Kumar, Vinay; Abbas, Abul K.; Fausto, Nelson; Aster, Jon (2009). Robbins and Cotran pathologic basis of disease (8th ed.). Elsevier Saunders. pp. 123. ISBN 978-1416031215.

Journal references not in PubMed or not yet in PubMed

These are a pain. References can be generated by filling the Cite journal template by hand. Detailed documentation for that is here (on Wikipedia).

If you don't want to read the documentation, it basically amounts to fill-out the following:

{{Cite journal | last1 = | first1 = | last2 = | first2 = | title = | journal = | volume = | issue = | pages = | month = | year = | doi = | PMID = | PMC = | url = }}

While PubMed listings take some time, the DOIs are usually issued right away (as they are issued by the (journal) publisher).

Example

Here is an example for a paper that was e-published and not yet in PubMed (when this section was written):

It would look like this in the reference section:
