STAT6+ve in Hemangiopericytoma. | |
Normal staining pattern | cytoplasmic staining (nuclear is diagnostic) |
Positive | Hemangiopericytoma, SFT |
Negative | any healthy tissue |
Signal transducer and activator of transcription 6, commonly abbreviated STAT6 is a diagnostic immunostain, because nuclear staining is found in some specific types of cancer that carry a NAB2-STAT6 fusion [1] or have a STAT6 amplification.[2]
Cytoplasmic STAT6 staining is seen in a wide variety of tissue and represents normal protein localization.
Positive
- Hemangiopericytoma.
- Solitary fibrous tumour.[3]
- well-differentiated/dedifferentiated liposarcoma.[4]
