Colitis cystica profunda, abbreviated CCP, a very rare gastrointestinal pathology.
General
- Very rare ~ 200 cases reported.[1]
- Benign - may mimic of adenocarcinoma.[2]
- The same process in the small bowel is enteritis cystica profunda.[1]
Gross
Features:
- Colon and rectum.
Microscopic
Features:
- Mucin filled cysts in the submucosa.[2]
- +/-Inflammation.
DDx:
- Well-differentiated colorectal adenocarcinoma.[2]
