Non-physiological changes are referred to some as pseudodecidualization or pseudodecidualized endometrium.[1]
Decidua and decidualization redirect to this article.
Contexts
Decidualization may be seen in a number of contexts:
- Pregnancy.
- Products of conception - decidualized endometrium and chorionic villi.
- Secretory phase endometrium - especially late in the cycle.
- Endometrium with changes due to exogenous hormones - as with oral contraceptive pill use, known as pseudodecidualized endometrium.
- Endometriosis with decidualization - may mimic squamous cell carcinoma.[2][3]
