Syphilis is the infectious disease caused by Treponema pallidum.
General
- Classically affects the testis before the epididymis.[1]
- Considered one of the TORCH infections.
Microscopic
Features:
- Plasma cells - key feature.[2]
- Spirochetes - diagnostic.
- +/-Granulomas[3] - gumma - in the tertiary phase.[4]
