Mesonephric remnant hyperplasia of the prostate gland, also mesonephric remnant, is rare benign finding in the prostate gland that can be confused with malignancy.
General
- Very rare.[1]
- Can mimic prostate carcinoma.
Microscopic
Features:[1]
- Small glands with small bland appearing cuboidal cells in a lobular arrangement.
DDx:[1]
- Sclerosing adenosis of the prostate gland.
- Prostate carcinoma - esp. Gleason pattern 5.
IHC
Features:[1]
- PAX8 +ve.
- PSA -ve (all).
- CK34betaE12 +ve/-ve (diffuse +ve in 4/7 cases)
- p63 -ve.
- AMACR +ve (focal).
