Silicone granuloma

Silicone granuloma is a foreign body granuloma elicited by silicone, which has been used in breast implants.

General

  • Presence is used as a basis for litigation.[1]

Microscopic

Features:

  • Foreign body-type granulomas with giant cells.
  • Translucent foreign material - seen with polarized light.
