Atypical spindle cell lesions of the skin are seen with some frequency.
The differential diagnosis is SLAM:
- Spindle cell squamous cell carcinoma.
- Leiomyosarcoma.
- Atypical fibroxanthoma.
- Malignant melanoma.
A longer differential diagnosis is SLAM DUNK:
- Spindle cell squamous cell carcinoma.
- Leiomyosarcoma.
- Angiosarcoma.
- Malignant melanoma.
- Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP).
- Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (AFX).
- Nodular fasciitis.
- Kaposi sarcoma.
