Syphilis

Syphilis is the infectious disease caused by Treponema pallidum.

General

  • Classically affects the testis before the epididymis.[1]

Microscopic

Features:

  • Plasma cells - key feature.[2]
  • Spirochetes - diagnostic.
  • +/-Granulomas[3] - gumma - in the tertiary phase.[4]
